The 16th ISSP will put an emphasis on (geo)chemistry in nuclear waste disposal. Special attention will be given to discuss the concept of solubility, speciation and thermodynamic data/modeling in this particular field. The relevance of accurate thermodynamic data and complete and consistent thermodynamic databases will be discussed in the context of radioactive waste disposal and Performance Assessment exercises. Furthermore, the application of advanced spectroscopy and analytical tools will be similarly highlighted as a key tool in the definition of accurate chemical models.
